Kyivstar, MTS to combine networks

e-mail Друк

Ukraine's largest mobile communication operators, Kyivstar and MTS, have agreed on the terms of interconnecting their networks, Andriy Osadchuk, Kyivstar regulatory and legal support director, told Kommersant-Ukraine.

() - "The agreement on interconnection of networks in 2012 was signed on the terms satisfactory to both parties," he said. This information was confirmed by the MTS. A previous agreement between the companies was canceled earlier this year at the initiative of Kyivstar. The operators accused one another of delaying the signing a new contract and were going to seek the settlement of the dispute at the National Commission, which carries out state regulation in the sphere of communications and information technologies, and in the courts.

The Commission saw no reasons for the conflict: in the past year, all operators of telecommunications were recognized companies with a significant advantage in the market of interconnection, and uniform rates of access were established - 0.36 UAH/min. As reported, the Antimonopoly Committee has been holding an investigation since February, charging Kyivstar and MTS in overstating the rates for roaming, and last week the AMC recommended reducing tariffs for calls within the country.
